Changes needed in town centre

Perhaps with the new developments at the former Derby College site on Field Road, a major rethink of the status of the centre of town is needed.

Maybe more of the properties should be given over for residential rather than business usage because so much of the town centre is now pedestrianised.

Heaven knows we need more accomodation for the swelling population in Derbyshire and changing the usage of vacant town centre properties will go a long way to solving the housing shortage.

It will also mean that more housing is available without developers having to build on green belt sites as is proposed over the coming years.
