POLICE officers in the stocks were the main attraction at a fun day arranged by Ilkeston bobbies and staff at Tesco.
This week staff from the store and Pcso Jennifer Hobson from the Larklands and Gallows Inn Safer Neighbourhood Team presented a cheque for £586 to the Alzheimers Society, half of the money raised on the day.
Kim Draper, from Tesco said: “The fun day was great but the weather was really bad, but we had a laugh about it and got on with it.
“Despite the rain everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and we still made a good amount for two brilliant and deserving charities.”
The Alzheimers Society, as Tesco’s chosen charity for the year, received half of the money and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance were given the other half.
Ilkeston inspector, Nick Daines, said: “I’d like to say a big thank you to all those who came along to the fun day. Although the weather meant that the crowds were not as big as last year, everyone who came along had a good time, and helped to raise money for charity.”
