COLUMN: Charity call for more volunteers

February is already upon us '“ it seems like only yesterday that we were celebrating our busiest year of missions ever, thanks to the addition of our night car service.

Already this year Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance services are proving just as in need. In some weeks in January, our services went to a combined total of more than nine missions a day.

We couldn’t do our lifesaving work without people like you. As well as financial donations, our charity needs the help of volunteer workers to keep operating. Each rescue mission we undertake costs approximately £1,700, and we can’t raise that money without the support of our local communities.

So we’d like to ask you to please consider coming forward and joining our fantastic volunteer team.

As a volunteer, you’ll be able to develop skills in the areas you find interesting, and find which niche we can offer that you most enjoy. Our volunteers love to talk about the sense of camaraderie and community they get from helping their local air ambulance.

We have many different options. From gaining valuable retail experience by working in one of our shops, to joining us at our Kegworth office to help sort and send clothing or manning reception, to working in the community to raise money at events, to leading a supporter group or giving talks on the importance of the air ambulance, we have roles to suit everyone.

If you’d like to join our fantastic team, visit our website at www.wndlrairambulance.org.uk/volunteering or give us a call directly on 03003 045 999.

We really would love to hear from you.
