A LABOUR councillor quizzed the Tory party about maintenance of Brussels Terrace car park in Ilkeston at a council meeting this week.
Cllr John Frudd wanted assurance that the car park would be maintained to the same as others, now that it is free of charge.
He also asked that signs are made clearer to inform shoppers that the Bath Street car park was now free.
Tory member Cllr Barbara Harrison said it would be ‘lit, cleaned and maintained in exactly the same way’ as other car parks in the borough and maintenance of council property was ‘high on the agenda’.
She went on to say signs inside the car park itself were ‘perfectly clear’ it was free, however she would ask an officer to look into making signs outside the car park more obvious.
The car park was made free last year to encourage trade.
