Couples could meet Queen

DIAMOND wedding couples from Ilkeston and Long Eaton are being invited to celebrate their milestone with the Queen.

Lord Lieutenant of Derbyshire, William Tucker, is inviting couples celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary in 2012 to contact him.

Couples will join others from Nottinghamshire as guests of honour when the Queen visits Nottingham on June 13.

Mr Tucker said: “I have no idea how many couples in Derbyshire are celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary this year but there is an opportunity here to make it rather special for some that are.”

To apply people should send a copy of their wedding certificate and a covering letter, to Diamond Jubilee, HM Lord Lieutenant of Derbyshire, Town Hall, Matlock, Derbyshire, DE4 3NN, by May 4.
