Courses to help young people into work at college’s Ilkeston campus

Derby College’s Ilkeston campus will play host to a series of Spring short courses aimed at young people currently not in education or employment.

Courses ranging from catering to construction and gardening to beauty will be held on offer at the college’s campuses in Derby, Ilkeston and Heanor in March.

An open evening about the options available will be held on Monday, February 28 between 4pm and 7pm at Field Road, Ilkeston.

Derby College Principal David Croll explained: “Figures show that there are nearly 2,000 young people in the city and county aged between 16 and 18 who are currently not in any form of education, training or employment.

“The short courses are ideally suited for young people who now realise that they need further qualifications to get a job and opens doors to them either coming back to college full time, gaining an apprenticeship or taking their first step on a career ladder.”
