A CONSULTATION has been launched to find out people’s views on using heat generated from cremations at Bramcote Crematorioum to heat buildings on the site.
Currently surplus heat is lost into the atmosphere increasing global warming and costs.
The Crematorium Joint Committee is considering installing a heat exchanger which would harness the surplus heat and convert it into usable energy.
Cllr Chris Corbett, Chairman of the Bramcote Crematorium Joint Committee, said: “First of all we want to reassure people the harnessed heat is not generated directly from the cremation of loved ones remains but from the filtration process used.
“We are very aware of the sensitivity of this issue and that’s why we are seeking the views of the public before we go any further.”
