Arrests after town reveller shot with air rifle

A PARTY-GOER was hospitalised after being shot in Long Eaton with an air rifle.

The 38-year-old was picked up by a passing police patrol car at the junction of Main Street and Oakley’s Road with blood on his hand.

A police spokesman said there had been a ‘party or gathering’ nearby where a fellow reveller had allegedly shot at the man with an air rifle.

A 59-year-old man and a 49-year-old man – believed to have been drinking at the party – were arrested and later bailed pending further enquiries.

The pellet passed straight through the man’s hand and he was treated at Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham.

The shooting happened just after midnight last Wednesday.
