A SUSPECTED ATM scammer, who police believe fitted a device to steal bank cards to an Ilkeston cash machine, has been charged with theft.
A police helicopter was dispatched at about 4.20pm on Saturday after a man spotted the device fitted to the cash machine at Gallows Inn Post Office in Nottingham Road.
A police squad car chased two men in a black Volkswagen people carrier along Lower Whitworth Road, but was unable to catch them.
Two men were later arrested iin connection with the device.
Florinel Groza, 30, of Nottingham, appeared before Derby Magistrates on Monday charged with theft.
Another 30-year-old man from London was bailed pending further enquiries.
