Breaking news: Police launch murder investigation in Ilkeston

A murder investigation has been launched after a man died following an assault at a house in Ilkeston.

Police were called to an address on Canal Street, Ilkeston following a report of a disturbance at around 9pm last night (Wednesday, January 30).

A 48-year-old local man was found to have been assaulted at the address and despite treatment by paramedics his injuries proved fatal.

A murder investigation has been launched and an incident room set up at Ilkeston Police station.

Police are keen to trace two men seen leaving the address around the time of the incident. They are both described as white, one in his 30s and the other in his 40s.
