Caught out speeding

VILLAGERS, armed with speed guns, caught 16 speeding vehicles during a police-led operation, according to results just released.

Pc Russell Crooks from Ilkeston Rural Safer Neighbourhood Team teamed up with Morley residents to catch drivers doing speeds from 35mph to 46mph along Brick Kiln Lane on April 18.

One resident said: “Speeding is a problem in many areas and this scheme helps to tackle the issue.”

Residents can volunteer to go out on patrol with their local policing teams and check the speed of passing vehicles.
