A CONMAN, claiming to be a repairman, stole jewellery from a Long Eaton pensioner, police have said.

The 79-year-old woman answered her door to the fraudster in Windermere Road at about 12noon on Sunday.

He said he could replace her guttering free of charge.

She invited him in and, while making him a cup of tea, the man made off with a bracelet, earrings, a watch and two rings.

An accomplice was seen waiting for him in a green Transit-type van with writing on the side outside.

Both men were white, one was about 5ft 6ins and the other was about 5ft 8ins.

The conman was wearing a bright blue shirt and had dark hair.

Anyone with information should call police on their new non-emergency number: 101.
