Cops commend carnival-goers

Police have commended the community spirit at Ilkeston Carnival earlier this month.

They said there were no incidents or trouble from anyone attending Rutland Recreation Ground on Saturday June 8.

Pc Andy Kendall-Edwards from the Cotmanhay and Shipley View safer neighbourhood policing team said: “The PCSOs and I mingled throughout the crowd and were pleased with how people were enjoying themselves.

“No one was misbehaving through underage drinking or causing nuisance behaviour.

“We have a good rapport with the local youngsters but from time to time they do cause us a few problems.

“Seeing them behave on the day was great and they should be applauded for their good behaviour.

“Because of this everyone attending the carnival was able to enjoy themselves, we thank the community for contributing to such a good atmosphere.”
