Council bin lorry stolen

THIEVES pushed a refuse worker out of the way to steal his bin lorry, police have said.

At about 1.40pm on Sunday the Erewash Borough Council worker was standing next to the Ford Transit tipper in Wilsthorpe Road, Long Eaton, when a man climbed into the passenger seat.

He then felt another man push him and climb into the driver’s seat, before speeding off towards Breaston.

A witness reported seeing two men get out of a Vauxhall Insignia outside the Eaton Farm pub before the theft.

The driver of a Vauxhall Insignia was arrested in Firfield Road on suspicion of robbery.

The lorry was found abandoned in Borrowash between 2pm and 2.30pmn

The council worker was not injured but was left shocked.
