County crime figures down

Knife-point robberies have fallen by more than 18 per cent in Derbyshire, according to the latest police figures.

There were 110 knife crimes between October 2010 and September 2011 compared to 135 for the same period the previous year – a reduction of 18.5 per cent.

Head of Crime, Det Chf Supt Steve Cotterill, said: “The decrease in robberies can be attributed to the efforts of the force in tackling this type of crime.

“Although these figures show a decrease in robberies, we are not complacent and we will continue to do everything we can to bring about further reductions.”

House burglaries fell from 3,733 between October 2009 and September 2010 to 3,359 for the same period the following year.

All crime fell by 4.9 per cent from 66,910 incidents to 63,630.
