A local drug dealer has been jailed for three years after being caught with cannabis in Ilkeston.

Jason Warren was sentenced to three years for possessing heroin and crack cocaine with the intent to supply and six months concurrent for possessing cannabis.

Police stopped the 41-year-old in a car in Wheeldon Close, Ilkeston, on July 19 this year.

He was found in possession of cannabis and electronic scales.

He was later found to have several wraps of crack cocaine and heroin concealed within his body.

Warren, of no fixed abode, was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court last week.

Local area commander Insp Nick Daines told the Advertiser: “I’m exceptionally pleased that the courts have once again recognised the harm drugs do to communities.

“I’m pleased Jason Warren has received a strong custodial term following hard on the heels of the Jay Betts result.

“I hope this serves as a further indication to dealers that we will target them and if convicted they will suffer the consequence of going to prison for a long time.”
