An Ilkeston man charged with possession of 0.2 grammes of a class A drug had his trial adjourned last Wednesday because he was not fit to give evidence.

Derby Magistrates Court heard that John Crawshaw, 43, of Blake Street, who was allegedly caught with the drugs on June 8, had taken medication for pancreatitis, which had made his speech slurred.

Rob Wetton, for Crawshaw, asked that the court adjourn the hearing.

He will now appear at the same court on November 6 for a one-hour trial.
