Escaped prisoner arrested in Ilkeston

A prisoner who absconded from jail last week has been found in Ilkeston and arrested.

Howard Parkin, was arrested at a house in Third Avenue, off Stanton Road, along with a 38-year-old woman on Friday at about 8.30pm.

Parkin, 46, who had been missing from Sudbury prison since last Sunday, was due to appear at Derby Magistrates Court today charged with being unlawfully at large.

Lindsey Fowkes was also due to appear today charged with harbouring an escaped prisoner and possession of amphetamines with intent to supply.

Parkin was serving a five year sentence after being convicted of firearms offences at Nottingham Crown Court on March 18 last year.
