More than 40 drivers warned

More than 40 drivers have been told to buckle up after they were caught not wearing a seatbelt during a police operation in Smalley.

Fines and warnings were given to 32 people not wearing their seatbelt, five drivers for using their mobile phone, one for speeding and one for the manner of their driving, just off the A608 Heanor Road last month.

Three motorists were found to have defective tyres and six drivers were made to remove their tint as they were below the legal visibility level.

One vehicle was seized and the driver reported for having no insurance and four drivers whose vehicles had serious were banned from the public highway until they pass an MOT test.
