A young couple have said they are ‘fuming’ after thugs pelted their 10-month-old baby with a volley of stones in Ilkeston last week.
Pregnant Chelsea Morris was walking her son Leo Bellaby along Nottingham Road when the attack took place.
One of the stones hit Leo on the head, causing swelling.
“I was fuming,” said Chelsea, 18, who said she is worried about walking the streets with her son now.
“It could have been so much worse and I’m just glad he was ok.
“He’s been really lucky.”
She had been pushing Leo’s pram alone close to Ilkeston Glass on her way back from Ilkeston town centre to her home in Corporation Road, which she shares with Leo’s dad Gavin Bellaby on Thursday June 13.
A car, thought to have been a silver Honda pulled up alongside her, slowed down and a handful of stones were thrown at them from the passenger window.
Leo was taken immediately to Ilkeston Community Hospital by Gavin’s mum, where he was checked over and given the all clear.
His swelling has gone down and he seems fine now, the pair said.
Window cleaner Gavin, 19, said: “We were really upset by it.
“Leo was crying and screaming after it had happened.
“It’s just a daft thing to do to someone who’s six months pregnant and is pushing a pram.”
