Vandals have smashed a set of two car park pay meters at Shipley Country Park.
It is thought that they were damaged to get at cash inside the meters at the Derbyshire County Council-run car park.
“Unfortunately parking meters at Shipley Country Park were broken in to on the evening of June 5 and damage was caused to the base of the machines,” said a council spokesman.
“We are working to replace the broken parts as quickly as possible and in the mean time we have implemented alternative methods of paying for parking at the sites affected.”
“An honesty box is in operation at Mapperley Reservoir car park and visitors to the main Old Coppice Side car park need to pay for their parking at the visitor centre.”
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident to call the force’s non-emergency number on 101.
