Police on the lookout for Kirk Hallam hedge hoppers

HEDGE hoppers are being hunted by police in Kirk Hallam.

Local officers have received reports of young people climbing into gardens in Kirk Hallam, often causing damage to property and fencing.

Pc Louise Stevenson, from the Kirk Hallam Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “We are generally seeing this issue occurring between the hours of 6.30pm and 9pm and particularly focused on the residential premises of vulnerable or elderly people in Kirk Hallam.

“Not only are there cost implications of repairing the damage, but it has also caused a considerable amount of distress to those residents who have been the victims of this silly behaviour.

“We are currently working hard to identify the individuals who have been hedge hopping and we are linking in with local schools and the community to stop this practise.

“We would like to appeal to the public for information on anyone who may have been involved in this.

“Perhaps you have seen or heard something suspicious that may be related?”
