Shop has licence revoked

AN ILKESTON town centre off-licence has had its licence revoked by the council after the licence holder was charged with fraud.

Jayendrakumar Gajjar of Chamunda News in Bath Street has 28 days to appeal the decision after the meeting of Eerwash Borough Council’s licensing and public protection committee last Thursday,

Mr Gajjar will appear at Derby Crown Court in March for a plea hearing, charged with fraud by false representation and possessing identity documents with intent to supply.

Sgt Mark Lomas from Derbyshire Constabulary’s licensing section confirmed that the newsagent’s licence had been revoked but could not disclose any more details about the case.
