Six arrested in ‘drugs’ raids

Six arrests have been made and suspected drugs seized after police raided five addresses across Ilkeston last week.

Last Monday, police found what they think is cocaine as well as a number of tablets in a flat in Chapel Court, Cotmanhay.

A flat in Nelson Street was raided the following day and officers found cash and several wraps of suspected heroin.

A 36-year-old man and two women, aged 22 and 33, were arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs with intent to supply.

The man and younger woman were questioned and released on bail while the 33-year-old was released without charge.

At a flat in Critchley Street on Wednesday three people were arrested after police found several wraps of suspected drugs.

A 27-year-old woman and two men, aged 34 and 38, were arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs with intent to supply and later bailed.

During the other warrants, addresses were searched but no drugs were found.

Insp Nick Daines said: “During the past year, we have seen some outstanding successes in our efforts to reduce crime and tackle criminality, with some excellent custodial sentences for drug dealers in particular.”

He added that some warrants came from information from the community: “I would like to thank people for passing this information on and urge them to continue to do so, either directly to us or through Crimestoppers.”
