Stopped clock gives clue to burglary

A 24-year-old man has been arrested after a burglary in West Hallam in which hundreds of pounds of equipment was stolen.

A ground floor window at the High Lane West property was broken in to on Monday, police said.

A sports bag, driver’s licence, cash, cheques, a pair of earrings, two mobile phones and three watches were among items stolen.

A clock was knocked off the wall which had stopped at 4.05pm, suggesting that was the time of the break-in.

The suspect, of no fixed abode, was due to be questioned on Tuesday.
