A man has been jailed this month for stealing a poppy seller’s handbag in a supermarket in Ilkeston.

Derbyshire Constabulary revealed the victim was selling poppies for Remembrance in the foyer of The Co-operative Food supermarket, on South Street, on Thursday, October 30, when Carl Reeve, 39, of no fixed abode, stole her handbag and made off.

Reeve was sentenced to 26 weeks’ custody, according to Derbyshire police, at Derby Magistrates Court, on Monday, November 10.
