Trial of Ilkeston man accused of murder to take place in October

The trial of a man accused of the murder of Ilkeston dad Paul Averill, pictured, has been adjourned until October.

Santino Genovese, 23, of Charlotte Street, Ilkeston, was due to stand trial at Nottingham Crown Court this week but the case will now be heard on October 26.

He appeared via videolink from HMP Prison Nottingham on Tuesday, where Judge Michael Stokes QC extended his custody time limit.

Genovese faces charges of murder and attempted murder following an alleged incident at a house in Charlotte Street in Cotmanhay on September 11 last year.

The trial will be held at Nottingham Crown Court.
