Underage teen caught with booze is fined for ‘breaching contract’
A TEENAGER from Sandiacre has been fined £100 after being caught with booze in a town park.
The 15-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was found on three separate occassions within a year with alcohol.
He was issued with an Acceptable Behaviour Contract (ABC) after police had had to deal with him for a number of anti-social behaviour incidents.
On October 15, 2011, he was seen by police with alcohol for a third time. He was interviewed and reported for breaching the terms of his contract.
He attended South Derbyshire Youth Court on January 20 and pleaded guilty and was fined £100.
Pc Andy Bircumshaw said: “This conviction proves that the police do not take cases like this lightly. The contract was issued for a reason and to breach this was a serious issue.
“This conviction could now effect the youth’s future education and employment.”
To contact police in a non-emergency call 101 or to report crime anonymously call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
