A VICTIM of pervert ex-swimming instructor Gary Froggatt says he is glad the appeal to reduce his sentence has been turned down.

Paedophile Froggatt of Ladywood Road, Kirk Hallam, appeared in London’s Criminal Appeal Court on Friday to challenge his 19-year jail sentence, with his lawyers arguing it was too long.

The 57-year-old was caged in April last year after being convicted at Derby Crown Court of a string of serious sex offences on boys – one as young as seven – in the 1980s and 1990s.

And on Friday top judges ruled the term was ‘not excessive’ and dismissed his appeal.

One of the victims said after the decision: “I don’t think it’s right at all that he should try to get it reduced. I’m glad it’s been turned down

“I don’t really think 19 years was enough for what he did to my life, but that was the sentence. If he’s done the crime he should be prepared to do his time.”
