A PAIR of burglars claiming to be from ‘the water board’ tricked their way into a pensioner’s home to steal cash from inside.
A man knocked on the 87-year-old’s door in St Norbert’s Drive, Kirk Hallam, between 2pm and 4pm on Friday.
He claimed he was checking water pipes in the area and the pensioner let him in to the kitchen.
The man then told her to fill the sink with water, while a second burglar sneaked in and took cash from another room.
The first man was described to police as white, in his mid-30s, of medium build.
The pensioner said he was wearing a checked shirt and spoke with a Lancashire accent.
Derbyshire police is appealing for anyone with information to call them on 0345 123 33 33 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
