Decision to close ward is ‘shocking’

After years of excellent care and service provided by Ilkeston Community Hospital the management and staff have rightly been held in high esteem and regard by townsfolk. This is why the shocking decision to close a hospital ward is seen as a most regrettable and retrogressive change. How can a negative situation such as this be described by doctors as win, win, win? (Hospital is ‘not closing’ Advertiser Thursday August 16, 2012)

Try telling this to the aged and infirm and disabled people perhaps living alone with serious illness, who will only get time limited visits from nurses or health visitors. These changes will be seen by many as a cost cutting exercise too far.

A town the size of Ilkeston needs full use of its hospital and the Clinical Commissioning Group should now reconsider this detrimental decision.
