BROXTOWE MP Anna Soubry has hit out at a Trowell councillor for telling villagers to back calls to build houses in greenbelt.
Cllr Ken Rigby said at a public meeting last week that the village was ‘defeated’ and should accept developers’ plans to build homes on the Field Farm estate.
In a special edition of her newsletter this week she said: “He seems to have forgotten it’s meant to be the councillors, not the officers, who run our council.
“I urge him to stand up and say no to the housing target and defend Fields Farm.”
Opposing Broxtowe Borough Council’s plans to build 6,100 homes on greenbelt, the MP has applied for a debate in Parliament on the matter, and is meeting with Eric Pickles, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, to discuss Broxtowe’s housing target plans between now and 2026.
