History has been made at the Rotary Club where Carolyn Stone has become the first lady member to receive the movement’s highest award.
The 63-year-old was presented with the coveted Paul Harris Fellowship at a recent meeting.
“It came right out of the blue and left me a jibbering wreck,” said Carolyn, who was not only the first female member of the club but also the first lady President.
Presenting the award, current President Mike Perry called her someone ‘who has gone the extra mile in support of Rotary’.
Carolyn’s husband Phil was presented with the same award just a month earlier.
Phil, 65, was called to the stage at the Rotary District 1220 cionference in Southport, where he had been working backstage, to receive the award.
Like his wife, he was ‘completely overwhelmed’: “It is truly a great honour,” he said.
The pair are successful partners at Aegis Alarms.
