Classroom unveiled
NILABE120131e1, Ilkeston Hallam fileds junior school official opening of new classroom by Julie Patten cabinet support member for education at Derbyshire county council.
AN eco-classroom has been unveiled at an Ilkeston school this week.
The new building, which fits in with Hallam Fields Junior School’s green ethos, has a green living roof, under-floor heating and solar panels.
Headteacher David Brown said: “The classroom offers children a state-of-the-art learning space which incorporates a large outside teaching space through huge folding doors. It will be a huge benefit in offering a versatile room to enhance children’s learning in a modern building that links to our environment.”
Derbyshire County Council funded the project and Cllr Julie Patten officially opened it on Thursday. The school was awarded its second green flag just before Christmas.
