A SCHOOL has become one of only twelve in the country to be awarded for its environment achievements.

Presenting the award, Dame Jane Goodall, famous for her lifetime of work with primates, praised the Long Eaton School for the work it had undertaken, including planting more than 2,000 trees and shrubs and having the highest number of students in Derbyshire cycling to school.

Students Kate Williams, Edward Holland, Luke McAuley and Ellie Spurr travelled by train to London for the award as part of the Jane Goodall Roots and Shoots programme.
