AN ILKESTON entrepreneur who founded an online magazine offering a voice for today’s youngsters from his Cotmanhay bedroom is up for a national business award.
Ashley Allen, 23, published the first edition of Suited magazine last month with November’s edition out tomorrow.
He said: “Me and my friends were just chatting and saying there wasn’t really a magazine that covered all of our interests. We joked about setting one up but I decided to try it out.
“It’s gone really, really well. We’re linked to some really good PR companies and have got some great interviews and features.
“There are a huge amount of extremely talented young people out there, many of whom are increasingly coming in for unfair criticism because of certain minorities.
“For the youth of the world trying to make good of their lives, we thought they needed a platform to showcase their talents and gain the inspiration they need to achieve their dreams, and that is why Suited Magazine was born.”
As a result of Suited’s success, Ashley has made it through to the final four nominees for the Young Star of Enterprise by Real Business.
He will find out if he has scooped the gong at an awards ceremony in London on November 14.
After starting the magazine Ashley, who works full time as a sales rep, has enrolled on a journalism course.
