Erewash priest leaves local roles

AN EREWASH priest has thanked parishioners after his last Sunday service.

Father Simon Ellis, from St Laurence in Long Eaton who is also Priest-in-Charge at Ilkeston’s Holy Trinity Church has resigned from his roles to take on a new role at the newly-established Ordinariate.

He said: “I have been immensely privileged to have been leader in both parishes of St Laurence and Holy Trinity.

“I would like to record thanks for the support and sterling work of my churchwardens Father Paul Waters, reader Ruth Pechey, the parachial church councils and all those who have worked with me in the church and community over the past decade.

“As I prepare for this exciting new chapter in the life of so many Anglicans who will journey into the Ordinariate, I want to express my profound thanks.

“I’m overwhelmed with thanks for so many blessings.”
