Family’s worries over planned home closure

THE daughter of an 85-year-old care home resident who could be foreced out of her home under Derbyshire County Council plans says the proposals could seriously harm her mother’s health.

Under the council’s plans to pump £200m into its care home services, several local homes including Ladycross in Sandiacre, Beechcroft in West Hallam and Hazlewood in Cotmanhay could be closed to be replaced with a network of state-of-the-art apartments and ‘super care complexes’.

But Linda Morledge, whose mother Mary Turner has only just moved into Ladycross, says the plans have upset her mum.
