Fantastic trip for Eleanor

AN ILKESTON family who spent Christmas at Disney World in Florida have told the Advertiser they had a ‘fantastic’ time.

They were sent to the USA by charity When You Wish Upon A Star after Eleanor Burnett, 13, was given the all clear from cancer.

She went to the theme park with her mum Joanne, brother Isaac, 16, and their aunty Stephanie Rice.

Joanne said: “We had an absolutely amazing time.

“It really was brilliant, fantastic.”

Eleanor was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in July 2009 after battling the illness and intensive treatment she was given the all clear four months later in November.

Doctors said she could go on the dream Christmas trip in May last year.

On the trip Eleanor and her family stayed in a villa in Florida and had day trips to all the major theme parks nearby including Disney World and Universal Studios.

And she said it was hard to pick one favourite bit of her trip.

“It was all amazing,” she said. “We went on rides and watched 3D films. I loved all of it.”
