FIREFIGHTERS from Ilkeston spent Sunday afternoon training with hi-tech equipment based at the station.
The high volume pump unit (HVP) is used to pump large amounts of water at scenes of large fires or when water needs to be taken from lakes or rivers.
It can also be used if there are major floods.
It has been based at the Derby Road community station since April 2009.
Station manager Gary Platts said: “The HVP is a brilliant resource and all of our firefighters are now fully trained in the use of this special appliance.”
