A TEAM of Ilkeston firefighters raised £1,500 when they took on the three peaks challenge in last month.
Green Watch braved the rain and completed the course in seven hours and 50 minutes, smashing the average time of 12 hours.
Watch manager, Paul Green, said: “It went really well despite the sideways rain and the fact that we were all injured.
“We looked a sight all soaked and hobbling along.
“Within the first mile we were wet through to our underpants but it was all for a good cause so worth it.”
The cash collected by the crew will go towards the Red Cross appeal aiming to raise £50,000 for a new vehicle to help victims of fires, floods and other disasters across Derbyshire.
Paul added: “More than £500 was collected when we were outside Ilkeston Tesco so a big thank you to everyone who donated and supported us.
“We’ve already started planning next year’s challenge.”
