editorial image

This picture of a serene winter scene in Ilkeston is the latest entry to our popular Life Thru The Lens photographic competition.

It was taken by 46-year-old Joanne Jones from Stamford Street in Ilkeston.

The photo taken on December 6 and is called ‘Miss Haversham. Waiting.’

Joanne said: “It was the first real day of winter at our community allotment project down the Erewash Canal, near Canalside Cottages.

“Miss Haversham, wearing a rather fetching 1980s voluminous wedding gown, coldly awaits her beau.’

The competition is run in conjunction with Specsavers on Bath Street.

We launched the compeition in the summer and it will close at midnight on January 5.

The subject you choose is up to you but it must have a clear link to Ilkeston or the local area.

Once we close the entries a team of judges will sift through all the brilliant photographs and narrow them down to ten finalists before deciding on the winner.

There will then be a presentation night at the Specsavers store where all the finalists’ images will be exhibited.

Email your entries to news@ilkestonadvertiser.co.uk or post them to Specsavers Life Thru The Lens, Ilkeston Advertiser, 8 Heanor Road, Ilkeston DE7 8ER.

If emailing your photograph, it must be attached in jpeg format as a separate attachment and the email must say Life Thru The Lens in the subject field.

For postal entries, the envelope must be marked as Specsavers Life Thru The Lens.
