PUPILS and staff are celebrating becoming the first special school in the county to be given an award for the quality of learning.

Bennerley Fields School was awarded the Derbyshire Personalised Learning Award this week by primary school pupils who helped to assess them and county councillor Stuart Ellis after 18 months of hard work.

Acting headteacher Dawn Clarke said: “We’re over the moon, Everybody has worked really hard for this.”

Pupils from Scargill school helped to assess the standard of learning at the Cotmanhay school, which was set targets by Derbyshire County Council.
