THE ANNUAL bed push up Bath Street in aid of Ilkeston Community Hospital kicks off on Saturday.
Fundraisers The League of Friends has organised the event, with the first pushers heaving their hospital bed up the hill at 8.45am.
This year’s teams include three from the hospital – the Manners and Oakwell wards, and the diagnostic and treatment unit. Also taking part are Ilkeston Rotary Club and Ilkeston paramedics.
The object is for each team to collect the highest amount of donations on their way to the Town Hall where Mayor Cllr Robert Parkinson will count the cash. Teams are encouraged to decorate their bed.
There will be a fundraising coffee morning from 10am to 12noon at the Mayor’s parlour and a raffle and cake stall in the Market Place.
