AGE is no object when it comes to charging from one end of a field to the other holding a pan and pancake.
On Saturday, six teams of runners, clad in all manner of fancy dress and aged from just 18 months to well over 50, battled it out in Stanton-by-Dale’s annual pancake race.
The racing ground was in front of the Stanton Hall Nursing Home in the village and more than 100 pancakes were served up in the Old School afterwards.
Church warden Ralph Homer said of the event, which has been running for more than 20 years and to which runners bring their own pancakes: “Everyone enjoys it every year.
“Although I’m not sure you’d want to eat some of the pancakes used in the race – they were a bit leathery.”
