Four taken to hospital after car collides with telegraph pole

A group of people have been taken to hospital after their car left the road and collided with a telegraph pole.

The accident, involving four people aged between 16 and 18 inside a Peugeot 106, happened on Sowbrook Lane, between Kirk Hallam and Stanton-by-Dale at 11.45pm last night.

Paramedics attended the scene treating the four passengers for facial injuries and broken limbs.

A police spokesman said the injuries were not thought to be life threatening but that the passengers and driver were taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham as a precaution.

It is believed the young male driver of the car had borrowed the vehicle off his father.

Firefighters also attended the scene to ensure its safety before the car was recovered.
