People in Erewash look set to benefit from a free garden waste collection during the winter months.
The collection is offered as a trial as part of the popular free bulky waste collections. Erewash Borough Council’s brown bin collections always finish for the winter from early December and restart in March but unpredictable weather means some residents may still be gardening during this time.
If given the green light, the winter service will be on offer to residents as soon as the regular brown bin collections have ended, meaning gardeners can make use of the free collections from Monday December 15.
Councillor Barbara Harrison, said: “This trial is aimed at providing a hassle-free service to all those keen gardeners in our borough who get out in their gardens during the winter if the weather permits.”
The council is expected to approve the new service at a meeting today.
