PUPILS at Chaucer Junior School got digging to plant trees that were given to them as part of Erewash Borough Council’s tree giveaway.
Children planted the trees around the school grounds.
Headteacher, Anna Upton, said: “The scheme has been an excellent opportunity for the children.
“It has enriched their education and provided opportunities for them to work with members of the community.
“They have enjoyed taking their learning outside and improving the school environment at the same time.
“The trees will improve the school’s security as they have been planted by the perimeter fence for privacy and they will also look fabulous as they grow.”
Erewash Borough Council handed out the trees to residents, schools and businesses last year.
