FRIENDS of an Ilkeston man who was killed in a car crash 20 years ago paid a cracking tribute to him on Friday.

Gary Dalton and other friends of Ian Stuart, who was the lead singer in a local rock band, smashed 100 teapots in his memory.

Gary explained: “I don’t know how we started it really but we’ve been doing it every year since he died.

“It’s a bit different and it’s how we remember him.

“Some friends have travelled from Germany to join in this year and we’ve been collecting and saving teapots for ages.

“We’re raising money for charity as well so the money will be donated in Ian’s name.”

The smashing tribute took place outside Thump Tools and Workwear on Station Road.

£400 was raised for Gainsborough Animal Shelter.
