ILKESTON’S Game store has escaped the first round of closures after the video game retailer went into administration.
Administrators announced the immediate closure of 277 stores in the UK and Ireland earlier this week and said that 2,104 employees would be made redundant.
The remaining 333 stores will stay open as the administrators search for a buyer for the business.
Staff at Ilkeston’s store said on Wednesday it will remain open for now.
A spokesman said: “This decision is taken after careful consideration and ceaseless interrogation of every possible alternative. The Board would like to thank the teams of GAME and Gamestation colleagues around the world for their exemplary dedication, passion and professionalism.”
